Regular Training Vital to Reduce Accidents
11/03/2015

Regular, on-going driver training is the best way to reduce accidents and can be achieved for as little as £30 per driver per year.

According to E-Training World’s sales and marketing director, Jonathan Mosley, frequent short bursts of online driver training ensure that driver skills and attitudes are improved, road safety remains at the forefront of their minds and a culture of safe driving is embedded into a company.

“A one off on-road driver training course will have a benefit for a period of time however, as with most forms of training, the benefits become diluted as drivers fall back into bad habits.

“With online driver training, this can be easily overcome because you can offer drivers short bursts of online driver training at regular intervals throughout the year.

“We have clients who ask drivers to complete an e-driver training module every other month, or quarterly, on topics such as avoiding rear end collisions, manoeuvring and parking, speed awareness, use of mobile phones etc and this not only keeps safety in their minds all year round, rather than just for a limited time, but it can also be provided at very low cost.”

E-Training World offers a large range of e-driver training modules, tailored to different vehicle types, including cars, vans, HGVs, bus and coach, minibuses and motorbikes.

By initially assessing drivers and then providing them with repeated web-based training on topics that are pertinent to their risk rating, companies can enjoy up to 20% accident reduction through online interventions alone.

“Many accidents are caused due to poor driver attitude, complacency and lack of concentration,” said Jonathan.

“By making sure that drivers are constantly reminded of techniques required to drive safely, and by making it clear through regular training that their employer takes their driving standards seriously, contributes to an ever-growing culture of better driving and this leads to less accidents.”
